Tanya Switalsky BSc.Kin MSc.PT
Tanya believes in an active approach to assessment and treatment. She works with clients to identify functional goals and make positive lifestyle changes. Treatment sessions involve a manual component such as joint and soft tissue techniques, and an active component incorporating exercise prescription and motor control training.
Since graduating, Tanya has been certified in Pilates Matwork which she finds very effective as a treatment tool and as a preventative measure. She is always looking to improve her skills and is currently undergoing additional training in Neurokinetic Therapy.
Tanya completed her Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto. Prior to this she attended Wilfrid Laurier University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. While at Laurier, Tanya was a member of the Athletic Therapy Club and worked with the varsity swim team for three years. She also had the opportunity to provide on-field assessment and treatment at Madawaska, a competitive youth volleyball camp. In addition to working with both recreational and competitive athletes, Tanya has experience treating a wide range of orthopaedic conditions in children and adults alike.
Tanya is passionate about traveling. She went on a year-long solo backpacking trip which took her to places like Iceland, Tanzania, and Cambodia, and she can proudly say she has been to all seven continents. Tanya has had the good fortunate to be able to combine her love for travel with her physiotherapy career. Over the past six years she has worked in the United Kingdom, Peru, and Argentina. Tanya is fluent in Spanish.
