Hisayo Horie

Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist

Hisayo is a Registered Acupuncturist and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner  who earned their Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner diploma from the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Hisayo meets you where you are in your healing journey, offering a holistic approach to care. Their acupuncture treatments incorporate a variety of modalities, including moxibustion, guasha, cupping, shiatsu, and tuina, to support healing for conditions such as pain, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, neurological conditions, and hormonal imbalances. In addition to acupuncture, Hisayo also prescribes herbal medicine to further support and enhance treatment outcomes.

With over a decade of experience as a community artist, Hisayo has facilitated storytelling in diverse communities, particularly with LGBTQ+, immigrant and refugee, and Indigenous communities. Their practice is deeply informed by the resilience and integrity of those who have been pushed to society’s margins. As a queer, trans, nonbinary practitioner of Japanese descent, Hisayo works from an anti-oppression framework with  trauma-informed, queer- and trans-positive approach.

Committed to deepening their practice, Hisayo is currently an apprentice at Nguistyle Integrative Medicine Clinic in Richmond Hill, further refining their techniques and bringing the profound wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine to their work.
